During the holidays, I played a mobile game that I saw advertised a lot on Facebook, probably because I’m a big fan of WH40k, and it went exactly as you might expect.

One of the trailers for Supremacy: Warhammer 40,000 (Stillfront Supremacy GmbH, 2025) :
First of all, I have to say that I really liked the concept of the game, which is very similar to board games such as Risk (Miro Company, 1957), Diplomacy (Wizards of the Coast, 1959), and Axis & Allies (Milton Bradley, 1984), but in a more interactive medium that does the calculations for you.
The big problem, and the reason why I deleted the game immediately after playing, is that not only is it “pay to win,” but the developers have put artificial barriers in place if you don’t pay.
For example, when playing for free, you can only build one thing at a time per territory, and you can only give one order at a time to your troops. Whereas, if you pay, you can give a list of several orders at once, allowing you to optimize your game without having to get up in the middle of the night to move your troops. It’s important to note that an action can take several hours to complete.

The previous screenshots show not only that some units have fewer attacks, but also that it is possible to directly purchase units, resources, shorter wait times, etc.
Here is an example of the notifications I had when I woke up in the morning:
